Google asked to fight against Android porn
If you remember what Steve Jobs said about Android, ” Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone.” Well, this has sparked some scrutiny by the Parents Television Council. The council is behind the push to make Apple’s App Store more family-friendly. They are using what Steve Jobs said as a launching platform to go after Android and its lack of effective parental controls on Android phones.
In an article at The Consumerist:
Ars Technica spoke with PTC’s Gavin McKiernan, who told the site that Apple still had room for improvement, and other platforms would start to face more scrutiny.
“We’re not up in arms against Apple, though,” McKiernan said. “We think there’s room for improvement, but we are definitely pleased with their response to our complaints.”PTC also thinks other mobile platforms need to take similar measures.
PTC agrees with Jobs that [kids’ access to porn] is a problem, as no other smartphone platform offers a system like [Apple’s] Parental Controls. “We plan to draw attention to other platforms, such as Android, or Verizon’s Vcast service, that aren’t really doing anything,” McKiernan told Ars.” We definitely want to see progress from some of the other handheld devices.”
So, do you think Android is more “porn-friendly”?

No kidding, parents need to PARENT and not blame technology for their lack of paying attention to their kids.
An android phone isn’t more likely to create a hostile environment than any other item that has access to the internet.
And as someone who doesn’t want to live in a world where I am treated like a 3 year old, I think they should stop making decisions that curtail my choices turn the world into a pre-school.
