Google Nexus 7 Packs a Secret Feature

Just days before its release, the Google Nexus 7 tablet has been discovered to pack a secret feature, something that wasn’t revealed by either Asus or Google.

Android Police has discovered a video of a Nexus 7 user who showcased a nifty little feature that will be coming along with the Nexus 7 when it launches this month.

In the video, the Nexus 7 owner demonstrates the Nexus 7’s hidden magnetic smart cover feature, similar to that of the iPad.

With the display of the Nexus 7 turned on and in portrait mode, the Nexus 7 owner puts the magnetic on the bottom or top of the left-side of the Nexus 7 which turns the display off.

The Nexus 7 packs a secret feature.

What this means is that the Nexus 7 could support a case, similar to the Smart Cover case that Apple introduced alongside the iPad 2 last year.

Google hasn’t said whether the cases it will be selling for the Nexus 7 will support this hidden feature.

The company also hasn’t said when the device will be released. The Nexus 7 release date has been rumored to be July 12th, tomorrow, but the company, as of yet, has not confirmed anything.

As it stands, the device is still listed as ‘Coming Soon’ in Google’s store and it comes with projected shipping dates of 1-2 weeks.

Google’s Nexus 7 will be the company’s first Nexus-branded tablet, a tablet that is aimed squarely at Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

The Nexus 7 features a 7-inch display that will feature 1280×800 resolution. It will feature a Tegra 3 quad-core processor from NVIDIA. It also features a front-facing camera for video chatting purposes, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth support, and up to 9 hours of HD video.

It will also have Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software on board as its operating system.

When it does go on sale, the Nexus 7 will be available in two variants including a 8GB Nexus 7 for $199 and a larger 16GB Nexus 7 for $249.

And, of course, it will also pack a secret feature.

Strange about the magnetic thing. Is it part of a feature that is a hardcase?

On my Nexus case, it had a magnet, so when i close the lid, the screen shuts off immediately.
