HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich Update Status Now Unclear

Published

on

Shortly after confirming the HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update, HTC has backtracked on its statement and the Desire HD’s Ice Cream Sandwich update status is now unclear.

Android Central has been provided with a new statement from HTC that backtracks on the company’s confirmation that the HTC Desire HD would be getting Ice Cream Sandwich at some point in the future.

The new statement leaves open the possibility that the HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update may never roll out, something that should be a little unsettling for owners of the device.

The HTC Desire HD ICS update status is now unclear.

HTC had also originally said that the HTC Desire S would get the Ice Cream Sandwich update but the status of that device’s upgrade remains unchanged it seems.

Here is HTC’s updated statement regarding the HTC Desire HD:

“HTC is committed to providing the best customer experience on our devices and are currently determining the ability to support Ice Cream Sandwich on the HTC Desire HD.  We’ll provide more information when we’ve completed our analysis.”

Australian carrier TELUS had originally broke the news saying that testing of ICS on the Desire HD had gone poorly and HTC had suspended and the carrier has now confirmed that it was informed that it was suspended across the board, not just for it.

So, this is obviously worrisome news for those who own not only the Desire HD but also the HTC ThunderBolt as well as the devices share similar specifications.

Hopefully HTC is able to pull through and get the Ice Cream Sandwich prepared for a roll out but at this point, Desire HD owners need to be crossing their fingers.

We’ll be on the look out for any progress that HTC makes with the update.
