HTC says that the HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update will still be rolling out as planned.
According to a statement the company provided to Android Central, the HTC Desire HD ICS update will indeed be rolling out, a confirmation that comes after a document from Canadian carrier TELUS seemed to say otherwise.
TELUS’ Ice Cream Sandwich update time line stated that HTC had cancelled the HTC Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update after it hadn’t performed well in testing.
HTC had promised the ICS update to HTC Desire HD owners which left many frustrated with the supposed decision.
However, as it turns out, the update will still be rolling out although the company remains mum on when exactly owners should expect it to arrive.
In addition to confirming the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Desire HD, the company also says it is committed to rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Desire S.
This means that both devices will at some point be upgraded with the many features that come along with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich including the revamped UI, Face Unlock, an upgraded browser and more. The updates should also come with several bug fixes and enhancements to make the experience for owners a whole lot better.
Hopefully, this confirmation means that a roll out for the software is close, though, HTC again remained mum about a specific time for the update to arrive.
We’ll be on the look out for any Desire HD and Desire S Ice Cream Sandwich news, official or unofficial.
