HTC has confirmed its commitment to offering an HTC One Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update in the future, comments that should put to rest any concern amongst owners of HTC’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean powered flagship.
While HTC has yet to confirm the HTC One Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for a specific date, we do know that the company plans to upgrade the device with Google’s most current version of Android. In fact, rumors have suggested that the software is extremely close to rolling out to the masses with rumors and HTC Russia’s head saying that it would roll out in mid-June.

ThreeUK, an operator in the United Kingdom, issued a strange tweet earlier today, telling owners of the HTC One that HTC had pulled the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the device. The carrier exclaimed that it didn’t have a new schedule for the update. What this means exactly is unclear though it could mean that the update is delayed beyond its rumored release. The software was thought to be coming last week only to miss that rumored release. This may have something to do with it.
HTC, in an attempt to quell fears, has confirmed the Android 4.2.2 updates arrival to Engadget, saying that the update is indeed coming to the device and that owners will simply need to wait before it arrives. It still hasn’t issued any concrete date for the software’s arrival which means that the roll out, while confirmed, is an open book.
With the release of the HTC One Nexus coming up, a device that sports Android 4.2, there is mounting pressure for HTC to deliver this update to its HTC One users. The Android 4.2 update, after all, has been out since November.
Furthermore, with the Verizon HTC One rumored to have Android 4.2 on board, HTC is definitely under the gun to get this software out sooner rather than later.
The update is expected to bring not only the Android 4.2 features but also some changes and fixes to HTC’s Sense 5 user interface though the exact contents of the changes will remain unknown until the official change log is released.
