HTC says that the code for the HTC One Google Play Edition Android 4.4 KitKat update has been delivered to Google and it says that the update’s fate is now in the hands of Google, a sign that the start of the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out should happen soon.
Earlier this month, HTC announced an ambitious plan for the Android 4.4 KitKat update. The company not only confirmed updates for the Droid DNA, HTC One Max and HTC One mini, but it also announced several updates for the HTC One. In addition to confirming those HTC One updates, the company also attached timing, giving HTC One owners of all shapes and sizes an idea about what to expect from their release dates.
HTC confirmed that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update would be heading out to the HTC One in the United States by January 29th. The company also confirmed upgrades for the UK version of the HTC One in January. A leakster claims that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update could roll out by Christmas though that update is expected to be the roll out for the international variant, if anything.
The company also said that the HTC One Developer Edition would get Android 4.4 KitKat within 30 days of the announcement and it also claimed that the HTC One Google Play Edition would get Android 4.4 within 15 days, or just two weeks after Google’s Android 4.4 reveal. Today, HTC has revealed some new details in regard to the HTC One Google Play Edition Android 4.4 upgrade and from the looks of things, a roll out is close.
Good news, we’ve delivered KitKat code to Google for HTC One GPE. Timing of push via PlayStore to be determined by Google.

HTC has taken to Twitter to announce that it has passed along the HTC One Google Play Edition Android 4.4 KitKat update code to Google and that the release is now in the hands of the maker of Android. Google has not yet said when the software will roll out, meaning, a release date is up in the air.
We imagine that the roll out is indeed close and that the start of the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out, a roll out that should last through January and span across numerous devices, is at hand. It’s not clear if Google will make an announcement or not though owners will want to keep their eyes on the Android Twitter account for details.
The update will follow in the footsteps of the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 Android 4.4 KitKat roll outs and it will be soon be joined by the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (Cellular) update pushes from Google.
