HTC President Jason Mackenzie claims that the HTC One Developer Edition Android 4.4 KitKat update is going to be released this month and that the update, when it arrives, will deliver the Sense 5.5 update that recently replaced the original Sense 5 software found on the HTC One.

On Halloween, Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat update, an update that will be coming to replace Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on an assortment of devices, including the HTC One. In fact, it was HTC that came right out of the gate with specific information for its users, delivering specific time frames for the update’s release.

HTC said that the HTC One Google Play Edition would get the Android 4.4 KitKat update within 15 days of the announcement. While the update isn’t out, HTC did uphold its part of the promise by delivering the update to Google within that 15 days. Google was forced to delay its own Nexus Android 4.4 KitKat updates so it’s possible that those delays impacted the timing of the roll out. Users should expect it soon.

The company also promised that the HTC One Developer Edition would get Android 4.4 KitKat within 30 days of the announcement. And as we approach the deadline, HTC is saying that the software will be rolled out sometime this month, though, it declined to say when.

HTC’s Jason Mackenzie says that the update is indeed on track for November, confirming it multiple times to unlocked HTC One Developer Edition users. He doesn’t specify a day, but it appears that the update is on track. Furthermore, it looks like the update will bring Sense 5.5 to its users. Sense 5.5 is an incremental update to Sense 5 and it improves both BlinkFeed and Zoe, among other things.

This is just the latest in a long line of release information for HTC One owners. HTC recently confirmed that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update for regular users would be rolling out by the end of January. Even the Verizon HTC One, which is still on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, should get Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of that month.

The regular HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the United States will be bringing Sense 5.5 as well, catching the devices up with the HTC One variants in other parts of the world.
