New HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update details have emerged for the United States thanks to HTC President Jason Mackenzie who has issued two new bits of information regarding the missing T-Mobile HTC One and AT&T HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat updates.
Last year, HTC promised three big Android 4.4 KitKat updates within 90 days. The company released the HTC One Google Play Edition update within 15 days, at least to Google, and it pushed the HTC One Developer Edition out within the 30 day window that it promised. The company, however, failed to completely deliver on its promise to release the HTC One Android 4.4 update in the United States by the end of January.
At the end of the month, we saw HTC President Jason Mackenzie issue an apology to HTC One owners, saying that the updates would probably emerge within one to two weeks. In a bit of a surprise, the Sprint HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update rolled out on January 31st and recently, we saw it joined by the Verizon HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update. That has left AT&T and T-Mobile owners looking for answers.
Well, Mackenzie is back today with some answers for those HTC One owners that are still on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5. He claims that the T-Mobile HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update is extremely close and that the AT&T HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update is still in testing but could be out next week.
Just yesterday, Mackenzie said that the T-Mobile HTC One update could roll out this week so it’s possible that we could see it emerge later on today if users are lucky.
From the looks of things, it appears that the T-Mobile HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update will roll out first, followed by the missing AT&T KitKat update. That’s not set in stone but Mackenzie’s language seems to hint at that.
Once the update’s do touch down, AT&T and T-Mobile owners will not only get some of the features from Android 4.4 KitKat, but they will also get Sense 5.5, an update that brings enhancements to HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe.
Up next for the HTC One is said to be the new Sense 6, thought to be coming with the HTC One 2 (HTC M8) sometime later this year. HTC is reportedly working on the HTC One Sense 6 update though a well-placed source claims that the update won’t be released until the summer or the fall of this year, perhaps alongside a new version of Android.
