While the HTC One S Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update has seemingly been canceled, it appears that HTC will still be updating the HTC One SV with Android 4.2 and Sense 5 as a noted leakster claims that the device will feature almost all of the features of HTC’s Sense 5 update.
For weeks now, rumors suggested that the HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update was in trouble. And after weeks of unofficial murmurings, HTC confirmed the bad news, saying that the HTC One S would indeed get left behind on an older version of Sense and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This of course comes after the company promised Sense 5 for the HTC One S.
Obviously, this news has ruffled the feathers of HTC device owners, considering HTC promised the update to a handful of devices and one of those devices is now out. One device that the company didn’t promise Sense 5 or Android 4.2 to is the HTC One SV, another mid-range member of the HTC One family of smartphones.
Previously, we had heard that this device would get Android 4.2 and Sense 5 and it appears that despite the cancellation of the HTC One S updates, it’s still on track. @LLabTooFeR, an HTC developer and insider and someone who accurately predicted the demise of the HTC One S upgrades, claims that the HTC One SV Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update is still in motion and that the update will likely get most of the features of Sense 5.
@JamesSchmitt6 It will have almost all features.

This falls in line with previous comments about the HTC One SV wherein he predicted that it would get the update, a prediction based off of inside information at HTC.
Because the HTC One SV and the HTC One S are closely spec’d, this is likely going to cause some outrage amongst HTC One S owners who feel cheated about being left behind when their device is just about a year old.
Rumor has it, the cancellation of the HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update had to do with bad performance, particularly with the model that features the Snapdragon S3 processor. The HTC One SV uses a Snapdragon S4 processor, as do some variants of the HTC One S, so it could be that HTC chose not to release the software for only the HTC One S Snapdragon S4 variant and chose ultimately to cancel the updates altogether.
These updates take time and money and with HTC still in turmoil, despite the success of the HTC One, it may not have had any to spare on the HTC One S. However, from the looks of things, the HTC One SV is on a good path and owners should expect to receive Android 4.2 and Sense 5 down the road.
