HTC Promises Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update to Select High-End Android Smartphones

Published

on

HTC is promising an Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade to a number of its high-end smartphones. The company says that those current Android 2.2 Froyo smartphones should see a Gingerbread update by the second quarter. Handsets affected include the HTC Desire–a variant of the original Google Nexus One, the newly launched Incredible S announced at MWC, the Desire HD–the international variant of the AT&T Inspire 4G, and the Desire Z–the international variant of the T-Mobile G2.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is an evolutionary upgrade for the Android operating system, and promises refinements in the user interface, as well as performance and security fixes. While HTC has announced these updates to the non-carrier branded versions of their smartphones, users with a carrier variant, such as the AT&T Inspire 4G or the T-Mobile G2, should look towards their carrier to announce any OS upgrades.

Well guess HTC has put the Incredible out to pasture. Thank God for root. Win for CM7.

I guess the EVO isn’t high end anymore. Desire HD’s Daddy gets no love
