While hopeful Gingerbread users of the Thunderbolt are waiting anxiously for not only a software patch that would fix the random rebooting issues as well as deliver the latest Android 2.3 version, called Gingerbread, an HTC rep confirms that the next software update will bring both features and is coming soon.
In a letter to a user, the HTC rep was not specific on details, and only mentions that the update will be released soon that ‘will address the reboot issue, and bring the Gingerbread 2.3 upgrade on board, as well as several other enhancements.’
When the Thunderbolt was launched, Gingerbread was promised in Q2, but as the second quarter of the year is coming to a close, it looks like HTC may need a bit more time to deliver on its promise of Gingerbread. Perhaps, one reason for Gingerbread’s delay is the random rebooting issue, and the company along with Verizon wants to ensure that the new software update will address any existing bugs before rolling out the new software.

It’s unclear also whether or not the HTC Thunderbolt will also get the newest version of HTC Sense, the company’s latest user interface that debuted on the HTC Sensation and is shipping on the HTC EVO 3D.
