HTC Vigor Now Rumored to Land on Oct. 13 as HTC Droid Incredible HD

While recently, we’ve been hearing that the HTC Vigor will be landing under the HTC Thunderbolt 2 moniker, a recent leaked document suggests that the earlier Droid Incredible HD name may be the final branding once the phone lands on October 13th. The authenticity of the leak and accuracy of the information is unknown at this time, and there are some inconsistencies with the information presented.

Given the unique back design of the phone, branding the device under the Incredible series makes sense.

First, the HTC Vigor, long believed to be among the first smartphones to sport a true high definition screen with 1280 X 720 pixels, is listed as a 4.3-inch WVGA device in the document. The document, however, continues to correct itself in the second line and says the display is 720p HD.

The document’s other listed specs for the device is in line with what we’ve heard rumored before, including a powerful dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, presumably from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line, 8-megapixel camera on the rear with 1080p HD video capture capabilities, Beats Audio, 4G LTE network support with mobile hotspot capabilities for tethering, and Android Gingerbread.

The other issue that we’re concerned with is the release date of the device. As Apple is speculated to be launching the iPhone 5 in early- to mid-October, the October 13th date would make this device compete for attention with Cupertino, California’s popular flagship smartphone. However, given that Ice Cream Sandwich and the Nexus Prime/Sasmung Prime is coming in late October or early November, HTC and Verizon would be wise to launch a Gingerbread phone before that happens to keep the device high-end, up-to-date, and feature rich.
