Losing a home and personal property to a flood is obviously traumatic, but some people will tell you that losing precious photos and videos can be even worse. Thankfully, DriveSavers is stepping up and offering free data recovery services to Hurricane Harvey victims. The company can recover data from broken phones and computers, even those that have been fully submerged in water. DriveSavers typically charges hundreds to thousands of dollars per phone or computer, depending on the complexity of the recovery.
In a press release, DriveSavers offered its services to those in Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi and all other areas hit by Hurricane Harvey and its continued rain. The company is limiting its services to one phone or hard drive per household.
“DriveSavers is known worldwide for recovering data from severely traumatized devices including those that have been dropped, burnt, crushed and fully submerged in water,” said Scott Moyer, president of DriveSavers. “We’re pleased to offer our expertise to those who’ve lost irreplaceable data like photos and videos of loved ones, business files and financial records.”
Located in Northern California, DriveSavers can indeed work miracles. Late last year, we reviewed DriveSavers data recovery services with a broken phone that contained a mother’s only photos of her son. The photos weren’t backed up to any sharing services. When the phone wouldn’t turn on, she thought the memories she captured for the first seven months of her son’s life were gone forever. The company was able to recover each and every image for her.
The free data recovery service is available for iPhones, Android phones, tablets and computers. Those with multi-disk devices, such as external storage devices, will get data recovery services at half price. Hurricane Harvey victims with more than one device in need of recovery services will also receive 50% off after the complimentary service on the first device.
DriveSavers recommends devices be sent in immediately after speaking to their representatives since water damage can get progressively worse as time goes on. It will accept damaged devices through September 15, 2017, so long as its employees can keep up and it has enough parts in stock. Keep in mind that this is NOT a device repair service and your damaged devices may not be usable after data recovery. DriveSavers typically sends back recovered data on an external hard drive or USB flash drive.
DriveSavers representatives are available 24 hours a day at 800-440-1904 or visit www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com.
The disaster in Houston and surrounding areas is a reminder to always backup your data. There are a number of free and affordable services to back up data, including Google Photos, iCloud, DropBox and Amazon’s Prime Photos.
