How Long Will the iOS 11.4.1 Update Take?

We don't know the exact size, but the iOS 11.4.1 update will probably be a fairly small download.

The iOS 11.4.1 update will likely be a point update which means it could be less than 100MB when it arrives for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Most maintenance releases are small downloads.

You can expect iOS 11.4.1 to take a minute, or less, to download over high speed Wi-Fi and 5+ minutes to install on your device. Your exact download and installation time will be based on your device and your current version of iOS.

If you're upgrading from older software like iOS 11.2.6 or iOS 10, your iOS 11.4.1 installation will take longer because it'll include features and fixes from the iOS updates you missed.

Once you download iOS 11.4.1 to your phone, you'll notice a prompt asking you to "Install" the software right now or "Later."

Most of you will want to install the software right after it downloads, but some of you might benefit from scheduling the iOS 11.4.1 installation.

If you choose to schedule the update you can choose to install it while you're asleep or you can simply have your device remind you to install the iOS 11.4.1 update at a later date, perhaps sometime when you have more time on your hands.

If you do decide to install the software overnight, you'll need to plug the device in to a power source.

Let’s hope this time Apple forgets about “new features” and just works on stability and performance….would be about bloody time.

I’d be VERY happy if Apple merely fixed the battery drainage!
