Apple is well known for their industrial design, and the iPad mini is no exception. Apple designed the iPad mini with anodized aluminium and chemically strengthened glass. The metal back and smart looking design could help Apple draw in buyers comparing the iPad mini to the Nexus 7, Google's 7-inch iPad competitor.

The iPad mini shares characteristics with the back of the iPhone 5, which could lead to easy scratches on the silver and black anodized aluminum surfaces, especially as users take the smaller tablet out of the house more often. We could see this new look arrive on the next update to the iPad 9.7-inch model.
