According to a new report, the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 could share at least one feature in common: A bezel-less display that eliminates the rim around the edge of the display, something that has been found on previous versions of the Samsung Galaxy S and Apple’s iPhone.

iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors continue to swirl ahead of their respective launches. And while Galaxy S5 rumors firm up ahead of the device’s expected February 24th launch, Apple’s iPhone 6 remains a relative mystery thanks to conflicting rumors and a lot of missing pieces yet to be uncovered.

While these two devices figure to be extremely different from one another, both from a hardware and a software standpoint, a new report claims that the two could have at least one feature in common.

The report, from The Korea Herald, asserts that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 will come with a bezel-free display. This means that the company might have eliminated the rim around the side of the phone, bringing a true edge-to-edge experience to device owners. A bezel-free display did not emerge in a 3D model of an alleged Galaxy S5 that came from well known leakster, Sonny Dickson, which means that the Galaxy S5’s display, despite the effort from leaks and rumors, remains in flux.

It also claims that Samsung has eliminated the home button from the Galaxy S5 and users will instead be able to take advantage of a fingerprint reader embedded below the display. Specifically, the report claims that users will be able to use the technology in the bottom left and right corners of the display, rather than the whole thing.

Citing the same industry source, the report also claims that Apple is investigating a bezel-less display that also incorporates a fingerprint reader. It says that the company is testing prototypes that offer these features but that of course doesn’t guarantee that the company will go with that prototype as the final version of the iPhone 6.

As 9to5Mac points out, Apple, like Samsung, toys with several prototypes before deciding on a final version of the iPhone. iPhone 6 rumors put the release date inside the summer or the fall which means that Apple likely still has plenty of testing to do before it decides on the final look of its next-generation iPhone.

iPhone 6 rumors have pointed to screen sizes across the board, ranging from 4.7-inches to 5.5-inches. Apple will likely test several display sizes before deciding on a final size for its new iPhone.

A recent report claimed that Apple would be putting its Touch ID fingerprint sensor inside the next iPhone model though it did not specifically say how the company would incorporate the technology. Apple’s iPhone 5s features a fingerprint sensor embedded inside of the home button.

The report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S5 design could be slimmer than previous models and it also suggests that users will be able to use the device while wearing gloves.

Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors will likely emerge at a blistering pace in the days ahead of its launch date. February 24th has been pegged as its launch date, thanks to a report from The New York Times and an invitation from Samsung itself. Samsung typically uses its Unpacked events to launch big name smartphones and this event is dubbed Unpacked 5.

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S5 will incorporate a high-resolution 5.2-inch display, speedy processor, 16MP camera sensor, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and a design that could be made out of plastic and or metal.
