LG Optimus 2 Makes Appearence on LG’s Website

If LG was trying to keep the wraps on the LG Optimus 2 before an official announcement at CES, it has done a pretty poor job. That’s because the device has shown up on LG’s website, right out in the open, giving us a look at the successor to one of the company’s best offerings in recent memory in the LG Optimus. Now, if you’re expecting to be blown away, you won’t be.

The Optimus 2 is going to be a lower-end device but if it’s anything like the original, it should be extremely solid especially with a budget price tag.

It appears that the successor is going to include a 3.2-inch touch display with 320 x 480 pixels, 800MHz processor , 3.2MP rear camera, Bluetooth 3.0 with EDR, GPS, Wi-Fi, and support for microSD cards that are 32GB or smaller in size.

The Optimus 2 also has 800/1900MHz bands and that means that it will be compatible with CDMA networks here in the U.S. Sprint and Verizon come to mind, although no official announcement has been made yet.

It’ll also have a virtual keyboard featuring Swype.

No pricing is listed on the website but with these specs, we suspect that it will fall into many peoples budgets, even with the signing of a new two year contract on whichever carrier the device decides to land.

So, now that we have this appearance, we should see this phone in action next week at CES and hopefully it is able to live up to the standards set by the previous model.

What an ugly phone.  Geez!!  Since the cost of a phone is such a small price compared to what you are paying out for a 2 year contract, why do people buy these?  If you get a voice/test/data plan, you are looking at paying $1500 to over $2000 for the contract.  So what if the phone costs $100 to $200.

Its on net10, no contract for $99. depending on where you buy it, you can probably get free shipping. big improvement for anyone not currently using android, and a pretty easy way to start using android.
