Published

on

While Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t in the cards for the LG Optimus 2X, LG Europe is still working hard to prep the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for its current generation of Optimus smartphones. Models affected are the Optimus 2X, the Optimus 3D, and the Optimus Black.

In the U.S., the Optimus 2X is available through T-Mobile USA. AT&T offers the Optimus 3D re-badged as their own glasses-free 3D experience known as the AT&T Thrill 4G while Sprint offers the Optimus Black as the LG Marquee, sporting a thin profile and bright 700 nit LG Nova display.

LG is providing the following timeline for when the updates are expected to begin rolling out. These dates are for the unlocked versions of the three mentioned Optimus smartphones; carrier-branded and carrier-locked models will likely get their updates at a future date:

  • LG Optimus 2X – From Nov. 1 for open models in Europe
  • LG Optimus 3D – From week commencing21st Nov. 21 for open models in Europe
  • LG Optimus Black – From week commencing Nov. 28 for open models in Europe
