Metal Gear Solid 5 Release Date

The Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date is confirmed for September 1st for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. The release date for the PC version of the game is a little later in the month as it falls on September 15th. These are concrete dates and at this point, we're not expecting them to change.

One other thing to note. While they'll share a release date, there will be some differences between the version for PS4/Xbox One and the PS3/Xbox 360. One of the biggest differences pertains to the size of the multiplayer experience in the games new Metal Gear Online.

While the PS4 and Xbox One will support up to 16 players for Metal Gear Online, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will support just 12. It's still not clear if this will be the only multiplayer limitation imposed by Konami.

Metal Gear Online will be free to those who pick up Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
