Last but finally not least, is the price. This is another area where Motorola absolutely outshines everyone, including LG's G4. Yes you can get the LG G4 right now and the Moto X isn't coming until September, but when it does it will cost much less.

The LG G4 is $629 outright from most carriers, or $599 from Verizon, but can be bought on contract for $199, or less with payment plans. Remember that.

The 2015 Moto X Pure Edition with a bigger screen, more customization, similar specs, a great camera and more, is only $399. You read everything else before this. That's a huge difference for two very similar smartphones.

$399 gets you the 16GB model, and most likely $429 will be what they ask for 32GB which matches the LG G4. Wood or leather backs are $25, which still puts the Moto X over $100 cheaper than the LG G4 no matter how you look at it.

If you want an excellent smartphone, one that's customizable or unique, but don't want to break the bank, the Moto X is the right call.

That said, Motorola isn't selling this through any carriers in the United States. They've gave them all a thumbs down for bloatware and trying to control everyone, and is selling it outright on Motorola.com, Best Buy, or Amazon. That means you can't get it on contract for less, or pay monthly like most US carriers offer, which is the only way to get a cheaper LG G4.

Just a few things to think about. In the end, I think the Moto X is the clear winner, even if I've yet to try one.

Why would you think moto is the clear winner. It has an inferior camera. And the battery can’t be removed.

    I cannot understand your opinions.
    Why moto?
G4 has more brilliant screen & camera.

    Why?

Is the LG G4 really $200 better? I was on the fence to get the G4, but the Moto X has changed my mind.

Yea that’s a hard one.. I’ll need to try the Moto X before I say yes, but $200 more is a big difference.

      It’s also $200 more.

It’ll be interesting to see how white the whites are on the Moto X as they have a definite tint on the G4. But, for me, LG’s crappy rear speaker is a deal breaker.

I own the G4 its a curved phone. Please fact check and get your hands on an actual G4 before you even write about it.

You talking to the author, or another comment. I never mentioned it isn’t curved. In fact, I have three sitting right here. I know it’s curved.

The LG G4 is $479 now on T-Mobile outright, which makes the price difference between the Moto X only $50. Considering the small price difference, I think the G4 is the better value.

Wonder how the sound will compare? G4 supports high def, and sound output is highly rated.

The LG G4 H815 32GB unlocked is $479 on B&H with zero tax due and free expedited shipping. A 32GB Moto X Pure Edition 32GB is $498.20 on motorola.com after the storage upgrade and tax. So LG G4 is cheaper option.
