Today after a little over a month of waiting Motorola officially announced and confirmed a release date for the new 2015 Moto X Pure Edition, also known as the Moto X Style for regions outside of the United States. Here’s everything buyers need to know.

On July 28th months earlier than anyone expected Motorola announced three brand new smartphones. The Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and the impressive new Moto G for 2015 that we’ve already reviewed. The Moto X Style is replacing the 2nd Gen Moto X from 2014, and it’s being called and sold as the Moto X Pure Edition in the US starting September 2nd.

Since the July 28th announcement we’ve been waiting for an official release date here in the US, but Motorola has been silent until today. One tweet last month confirmed September 3rd would be the date, but it was quickly removed. However, they’ve now confirmed that pre-sales will begin (in the US only) on September 2nd. Read on for more details.

MotoX-releaseThe 2015 Moto X or 3rd Gen Moto X will officially be available to pre-order in just a few days. Yes, this is only a pre-order date, and we’re still not 100% sure when Motorola’s impressive new 5.7-inch smartphone will actually ship to buyers. All Motorola said is this is the pre-order date, in which consumers can go on and buy its latest phone, along with a huge assortment of customization options.

Most likely the new Moto X Pure Edition will start shipping within 4-5 days of being ordered, if not sooner, but we won’t know until Motorola confirms more details. Those who do order, will likely get a shipping estimate after placing an order.

So what is the new Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen 2015) all about? It’s the biggest Moto X yet, coming in at 5.7-inches, and has some of the most impressive specs we’ve seen from any Motorola smartphone to date. Here’s the full details.

This year the phone is being powered by the same 6-core processor as the LG G4, comes with 3GB of RAM, and is being sold starting at the impressively low price of only $399 for the 16GB model. It does have a micro-SD slot for storage expansion, as well as options to buy a 32 or 64GB model as well.

All the customization Motorola fans have come to expect is still included, along with much more. The same 25+ color options, accent colors, engravings, wood or leather backs and more. Then, Motorola added a new durable rubber option in tons of bright colors, and metallic accent options as well. Basically you can choose almost any color, accent color, leather or wood finish you’d like and make the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition the most unique smartphone ever owned.

It’s also worth noting the Moto X Pure Edition will not be sold by carriers, or in carrier stores. The model on Motorola.com works with all five major US carriers, but is free from bloatware or additional apps like most phones. No carriers will offer this phone, but it works with all carriers. We’re not sure how activating on Verizon or Sprint will go, but it should work with all carriers in the United States.

For now all we know is the new Moto X Pure Edition will be $399 and available starting tomorrow, September 2nd, and additional options and units will also be for sale from Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and possibly in Best Buy retail stores as well. Stay tuned for more details.
