Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich Update Leaks Again

Yesterday, a Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update build leaked out. Shortly after that, it appears that another Android 4.0 build leaked out, and Droid Bionic owners might be wise to flash the second one instead.

Early yesterday, the first Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich build leaked out. That build was 6.7.2231. Soon after, another build surfaced over at XDA-forums, and this build is and was newer than the previous. The new build is 6.7.2233.

The new build apparently is a little more stable than the last one, although users seem to be reporting very few problems with the first build.

One user installed the update and showed off Ice Cream Sandwich on his Droid Bionic. The video showing off the update on Verizon’s first 4G LTE dual-core smartphone can be seen below.

Now, it appears that this update also may have brought a goodie with it in Motorola’s Smart Actions. According to Droid-Life, the update brings the Smart Actions feature to the Motorola Droid Bionic. This is pretty big.

For those unfamiliar with Smart Actions, it allows users to automate tasks using a wide range of triggers. For example, users can program the phone to connect to Bluetooth headset when they get to work or change the ringtone volume for a specific person. It’s an extremely useful feature and a nice addition to Android 4.0.

Now, before getting too excited, know that the update is a ROM and likely an early one at that. This means that it could cause havoc for those that have never flashed a ROM before.

Those that are not proficient in these sorts of things should probably hold off for now and maybe even just wait for the official update to arrive. Motorola has said that it will be rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Droid Bionic in Q3 of this year. That means either in July, August or September.

For those taking the plunge with this new ROM though, good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Updated to the 6.7.2231 build this morning and it runs WAY better than Gingerbread ever did. I haven’t had any issues thus far.
