We still don’t have a specific release date for the Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update but we have learned that the update will more than likely roll out in the month of August and not July.
A source has informed us that the Motorola Droid Bionic ICS update is progressing and that a soak test for the update should roll out in 2-3 weeks time. This means that in all likelihood, the device will see the Ice Cream Sandwich update arrive sometime in the middle of August.
Apparently, the Droid Bionic’s Ice Cream Sandwich release date, which has been pegged for arrival in early Q3 by Motorola, would have already arrived had the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich updates been flawless.
However, as we know, both of those updates came with several bugs on board which apparently delayed the roll out. The companies involved are evidently trying to ensure that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Droid Bionic won’t have the same bugs that those two devices have.
Once the soak test rolls out for the Droid Bionic, and all goes smoothly, then the Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update will roll out. This is the plan as of right now though we have been told that those plans are subject to change, for better or worse, should something occur during testing.
Clearly, this is probably not the ‘early Q3’ that many Droid Bionic owners were hoping for when Motorola announced that as the launch window but it appears that August is likely going to be the launch month.
Hey, at least the update is still coming. HTC ThunderBolt owners apparently have a 5% chance of seeing Ice Cream Sandwich arrive for their device.
The Droid Bionic ICS update has leaked out numerous times over the past few weeks, a sign that we’re close to the software’s arrival. Unfortunately though, at this point, it looks like we’ll be waiting until mid-August at the earliest to see the update roll out.
We’ll update you once we get close to the roll out of the Droid Bionic’s Ice Cream Sandwich update.
