The wait is finally over for one of the major Android devices that was expected to launch today as Motorola took the stage and announced its latest 4G LTE smartphone, the Motorola Droid RAZR. This comes shortly after Motorola set up a teaser page for the device and accidentally leaked out the phone enabling the world to see its product before its official launch.
Not surprisingly, the phone announced today was the same phone we saw yesterday. A super thin 4G LTE smartphone that puts the Motorola Droid Bionic’s form factor to shame.
The Droid RAZR will be launching with a stainless steel core, a Kevlar back, and a splash guard screen which makes it an extremely durable device, perfect for those of you who enjoy dropping your phone.
It’ll also have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with advanced qHD resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1800mah battery, mobile hotspot support, 1GB of RAM, a rear camera capable of shooting 1080p video, and it’s coming with a form factor that is only 7.1mm thin making it the thinnest smartphone in the world. You’ll also be able to sync up the Droid RAZR to the MotoACTV in order to get texts and what not on the fly.
It also has 12.5 hours of talk time opposed to 6.5 for the Droid Charge and 9.2 hours on the HTC ThunderBolt.
The Droid RAZR will also have webtop support, similar to that of the Droid Bionic.
Unfortunately, it’ll be powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread out of the box which means the Galaxy Nexus, which just leaked out itself ahead of launch, will indeed be the first device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Pre-orders for the RAZR start October 27th and it will go on sale in November (in both the U.S. and worldwide) for $299.
