Motorola Droid RAZR HD Launch Date Still Unclear

Earlier today, we thought we had the Motorola Droid RAZR HD launch date pinned down to this Friday, August 10th. However, it appears now that the Droid RAZR HD launch date is still up in the air after Motorola decided to dispute the rumors.

This morning, Motorola posted something peculiar on its Facebook wall. It posted a silhouette of a mystery 4G LTE device and said that it would be unveiling it this Friday.

This led many to believe that the company was teasing the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, a device that has been rumored for quite sometime but has yet to receive an official announcement.

According to Motorola’s official Twitter account though, the post on Facebook “references a device already available in the U.S. market. It is a game intended to engage w/ the FB community.”

Motorola says the Facebook post refers to something different than the Droid RAZR HD. The Atrix HD, perhaps?

So, it looks like this device is either the Motorola Atrix HD which was just announced a short time ago or the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX or something else entirely. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, that is, unless Motorola’s Twitter operators are misinformed or flat out lying.

That means that the Droid RAZR HD launch date remains unclear and it’s possible that we won’t see it for quite some time, considering that we haven’t even seen any rumored launch date emerge from the shadows.

This apparently, is not the Droid RAZR HD.

This actually makes a lot more sense given the fact that the Droid RAZR HD devices we’ve seen leak have all been running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and not Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest software.

It’s possible that Motorola is working to outfit the Droid RAZR HD with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and that’s why we haven’t, despite all of the leaks, seen an official announcement.

As for the contest, well, it just got a lot less interesting.

Who’s disappointed?
