Motorola Filed Trademark for Xoom for Tablet?
Motorola has filed for the mark “Xoom,” which could indicate that the company will be releasing its tablets under the moniker. The company is expected to release its NVIDIA dual-core Tegra 2 tablet at CES, and Motorola will be expected to have Android tablets on the market with a 7- and 10-inch screen size. Previously, Internet leaks have revealed that the codename for Motorola’s tablets could be Everest and Stingray; the MOTO PAD brand has also been tossed around.
Whether Xoom will be an actual tablet product or another product is entirely up in the air. Another possibility for the brand could be a Slingbox-like place-shifting device/service that the company is working on.
We’ll have to wait until CES to find out what Motorola will be naming its upcoming tablet(s) and if the Xoom mark will debut at that time.
