The Motorola X Phone, which is rumored to be coming out later this year to take on the likes of the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One is rumored to be coming with at least one feature that these phones may not have, specifically, as many as 20 different color options for potential buyers to choose from.
So far, this year, Motorola has yet to release a big name smartphone despite talking a whole lot about its past and future devices. That doesn’t mean that we haven’t seen a fair share of rumors though as the company has not only confirmed that it has devices in the pipeline for the second half of this year. One of those devices is said to be the Motorola X Phone, a device that has been rumored for months and is thought to be the first Motorola device for 2013.
Rumors suggest that it could be debuting at Google I/O in May or coming much later in the year, perhaps in August. X Phone rumors also have claimed that the phone, while sporting some high-end hardware including a large high-resolution screen, speedy processor, 10MP camera and durable Motorola design, could also have a killer feature to help it compete with the Galaxy S4, iPhone 5, and HTC One.
That feature is said to be user customization, something that Motorola evangelist Guy Kawasaki seemed to hint at in a cryptic Google+ post a few weeks ago. Thus far, leaks are undecided on just what kind of customization Google and Motorola will allow, but a new rumor suggests that color may play a big part in it.
The new rumor, from PhoneArena, claims that Motorola may offer 20 or more color options for the Motorola X Phone. That’s 18 more color options than the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One though we may see Samsung offer different Galaxy S4 colors in the future.
If true, that could make the X Phone extremely appealing to those that love a unique look to their phone. It’s unclear just what color options would be available but we imagine all of the basic colors will be available.
Paired with a kevlar design, it would mean that users wouldn’t have to pay the extra money for a case in order to dazzle up their new smartphone. In the past, users have had to buy cases to not only protect their device from harm, but also, to add a different look to it.
It’s unclear just when this phone might touch down but with Google I/O coming up, it’s possible that we could see it arrive as soon as May.
