Nexus 4 Orders Continue in Google Play Store

Despite showing up as “Sold Out” for many users on the Google Play Store, the Nexus 4 remains in-stock through Google’s online store though those looking to order are going to have to wait a few weeks before orders arrive.

Earlier today, Google put the Nexus 4 up for sale again through the Google Play Store in the United States and almost immediately, users were greeted with the same website errors that affected those who tried to place orders earlier this month when the device first went on sale. Google’s website was and still is for many users flashing two separate things, apparently, due to high traffic.

When trying to place an order for the Nexus 4, Google’s website will either display a “Sold Out” sign in bright red, or it will allow users to add the Nexus 4 to the cart with shipping times set for weeks from now. For the 8GB Nexus 4, it’s showing up as shipping out in 4-5 weeks and for the 16GB Nexus 4, it’s said to be shipping out a little sooner. Which of these is correct? According to Google, it’s the latter.

The Nexus 4 is still available to order. Sort of.

In a statement to Gotta Be Mobile and confirmed through a message on its Google Play Store, the Nexus 4 isn’t sold out and instead, will still be available to purchase. Google told us that users looking to buy the Nexus 4 will want to keep trying and that it’s “encouraging customers to try again later.”

Evidently, the error and the errors after adding the device to the cart – something that some users are experiencing, are due to the high traffic load that Google’s website is experiencing due to the new stock.

Google did not say when the site issues might die down.

As of right now, the site is still flickering back and fourth between “Sold Out” and in-stock but again, the device is in-stock, it just won’t be shipping out for a number of weeks it seems. It’s certainly possible that it will ship out much sooner but as of right now, Google remains mum on that possibility.
