Nexus 5 (2015) vs Nexus 5 Specs

Specs will play a big role in this smartphone, especially if Google wants to get people to buy it, and still hit a price point that makes it a compelling alternative to the Galaxy S6, LG G4, Moto X, and other smartphones currently available.

The original was nearly a top-end device, with a few cutbacks here and there in order to meet a low price point, and Google could do the same thing year but work much harder at still making a great device. We've seen a few different rumors about the Nexus 5 for 2015, but the most recent sounds best, not to mention all other leaks are months old. With a release near, this latest leak could be the most accurate, and here's what it's saying.

Nexus 5 2015 Specs (Rumored)

  • 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p P-OLED HD Display
  • 8-core Snapdragon 620 Processor with 3-4GB of RAM
  • 32 and 64GB of internal storage
  • 13 megapixel F1.8 camera with OIS and Laser Autofocus (like the LG G4)
  • 4 MP front camera
  • 3,180 mAh battery with wireless charging
  • Rear power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner
  • Dual Front-facing speakers
  • USB Type-C Connector with Quick Charging Technology
  • Aluminum Frame with Matte Black Plastic back (like the original Nexus 5)
  • more

The rumors we're hearing basically make the Nexus 5 sound like a slightly toned-down or refined LG G4 with a 5.2-inch screen and looks that closely match the Nexus 5, but with the power button on the back like the LG G4. This will house a dedicated fingerprint scanner for security, easier logins, and Android Pay.

The Snapdragon 620 8-core processor isn't as powerful as the 800 series, like the 810 in many devices right now, but it's also more efficient, more wallet-friendly, and performs nearly the same. So close in fact, users won't notice the difference, but will get a much cheaper smartphone.

Nexus 5 (2013) Specs

  • 5.0-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Display
  • 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 Quad-core with 2GB of RAM
  • 16/32GB internal storage
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat (Now on Android 5.1.1)
  • 8 Megapixel camera with OIS, 1.3 front shooter (single LED flash)
  • Bottom facing speaker
  • Plastic design
  • 2,300 mAh battery

As you can see everything is getting an upgrade. Two of the biggest complaints about the Nexus 5 were the camera and battery life.  If rumors are accurate the new Nexus 5 will have a massive 3,180 mAh battery for more than all-day usage, and an improved 13 megapixel camera with performance similar to the LG G4. A device that's arguably one of the best on the market in the camera department.

The 2015 Nexus 5 is shaping up to be a great smartphone.
