Nexus 5 Leak Highlights 5 Possible Features

The Nexus 5 launch is likely still months away but already, we’re seeing potential Nexus 5 details leak out with the latest suggesting that the device will indeed be built by LG, will feature a speedy processor, will have a large display, will feature some familiar design components and will arrive at some point between the months of October and December.

Every year, Google releases a new Nexus-branded smartphone so it’s no surprise that rumors have been swirling in regards to the likely Nexus 4 successor that will touch down later this year. The Nexus 5, as it is being called, has seemingly leaked to the surface numerous times, though details are still far from being ironed out. The final details likely won’t come into focus until a few weeks before the Nexus 5 launch.

Today though, Vietnamese site Tinhte, a site that is well-known for its Apple leaks, makes some bold claims about some of the upcoming Nexus 5’s features, some of which agree with previous rumors, some that don’t and some that are completely new.

This report suggests that LG, not Motorola, and not any other company will be developing the new Nexus 5 smartphone. It’s unclear what this means for the rumored Motorola Nexus but at this point, LG seems to be the front-runner given the amount of times its name has popped up. Again, rumors for years have suggested multiple Nexus smartphones so that is still possible.

However, rumors have all pointed to LG, the maker of the Nexus 4, making the new Nexus 5 with the device supposedly based on LG’s current flagship smartphone, the LG G2.

Nexus 5 Design

The Nexus 4 was based on the LG Optimus G Pro though the two devices did not share designs. This report points to LG using the new LG G2 as a basis for the Nexus 5 but claims that they won’t be sharing similar designs.

The Nexus 5 may share design qualities with the Nexus 7.

Instead, the device is said to have glass on both sides just like the Nexus 4 and the form factor is apparently going to be thin with extremely thin bezels on the sides and will be shaped like the Nexus 7 that arrived on shelves in July.

Nexus devices typically have unique designs that change year-over-year.

Nexus 5 Display

The Nexus 5 display is again said to be 5.2-inches in size, same as the LG G2, and larger than the 4.7-inch display on the Nexus 4. Rumors have additionally suggested that the display will check in with 1080p resolution, up from the 720p resolution found on the Nexus 4.

Nexus 5 Processor

Initial Nexus 5 rumors suggested that the device could come with a Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor from Qualcomm. However, it appears that the device may be coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor instead, the same processor that is inside the LG G2 and the same processor that is expected to arrive inside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

If true, this would likely mean a Nexus 5 with high performance and solid battery life, two features that consumers often look for in their next smartphone.

Nexus 5 Release Date

Finally, the report suggests that the Nexus 5 will arrive in the fourth quarter, the same quarter that we’ve heard mentioned several times in the past. The fourth quarter spans October, November and December, meaning an arrival in October or November, like the Nexus 4, is very possible.

Who’s gonna see the new Nexus when this MONSTER is coming your way. Want octa core exynos 5420? or Quad core Snapdragon 800 chip? See what your country will get…

I always KNEW it was LG and I always knew it was the Snapdragon 800. Check my comments history. Only in recent days when the Snapdragon 600 downgrade rumor kept making the rounds did I doubt; I wondered if Google had caved to save money. Glad they didn’t!

Release date — not announcement date — but release will be in November, just like the last two Nexus phones. “Announcement” with show and tell presser will be in October.

The Galaxy Nexus was released in December of 2011, but I think you’re right about November, at least I hope you are.

I hope it has an IR sensor like the S4 to control a TV or other IR sensored devices.

is there a chance that the nexus 5 be waterproof or dust proof because sony has been manufactering dust proof and water proof phones. i hope nexus will launch a heat proof phone cause the xperia zs back glass would come of because of the bad glue they used to put the phones together because the heat would melt the glue
