Nexus 5 vs. Nexus 4: Mock Up Compares New Nexus

A new photo depicting renders of the Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus next to the rumored Nexus 5 offer prospective buyers a glimpse at what the new Nexus 5 could look like next to Google’s current Nexus smartphone and its Nexus smartphone of the past.

With the fourth quarter fast approaching, rumors about a new Nexus smartphone have begun to swirl, teasing Android enthusiasts and prospective buyers with a brand new device that will more than likely replace the Nexus 4. In the past few days, we’ve seen two big teases, the first from Google itself and the second, an FCC filing that seems to back up the first.

The first of course was the unknown Nexus device spotted in Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat video that is now thought to possibly be the actual Nexus 5. That’s because a recent FCC filing may have outed the LG Nexus 5 as a real device complete with Android 4.4 and fast LTE data speeds, something that the Nexus 4 did not have.

Despite those leaks, we still don’t have a firm grasp on what the Nexus 5 looks like though renders based on the leaks are doing their best to try and sort that out. The latest, from a user on Reddit, depict the Nexus 5 from the leak next to the Nexus 4 and the Galaxy Nexus, offering up a glimpse at what the design could look like next to Google’s other Nexus smartphones.

Of course, this is a render based on a possible design so it’s likely not one hundred percent accurate but it’s the best that it’s going to get for the time being. We see a device that has a similar size and shape to the other two devices. The Nexus 5 is expected to have a display that is a tad bigger than the Nexus 4’s 4.7-inch display with it likely settling in around 5-inches.

The Nexus 5 is supposedly going to be coming from LG.

The device doesn’t look anything like the LG G2, the phone that the Nexus 5 is supposedly based on, and instead models its look after the Nexus 7, Google’s current 7-inch Nexus tablet.

The hardware of the Nexus 5 is supposed to resemble the LG G2, complete with 1080p display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It should also have all of the bells and whistles of a Nexus including NFC, good battery life, vanilla software and more.

Rumors suggest an arrival in October, a date isn’t known yet, and there are also rumors of a Motorola Nexus smartphone. It’s unclear if it will join the Nexus 5 from LG or if LG simply beat out Motorola for the rights to the new Nexus. Those answers and more should be answered in the coming days.

Wow, that’s a great picture of a completely made-up phone that doesn’t exist. Is this person a forensic artist, or someone with too much time on their hands?

Haven’t been watching the news too closely, I see. The render doesn’t look too far off the mark, actually.

The LG Nexus 4 also did not LOOK like the LG Optimus G it was based on, but INTERNALLY was its fraternal twin: same display, same CPU, same GPU, same front and read cameras, same battery, same RAM. But externally it looked different.

So, why the confusion the Nexus 5 doesn’t look like the G2?

Those specs are right on par with all the top phones out now or those coming up…just wish the battery was a lot bigger than 2300 mAh…more like 2600mAh> <3000mAh, even if u add a little girth.

“LG beat out Motorola…” Huh? Doesn’t Google own the former Motorola Mobility, now known as Motorola – A Google Company?
