Nexus 5X Carrier Support & Project Fi

We know the specs, the screen size, the release date, and now the price, but what about carriers. Will the Nexus 5X and 6P be available from all major carriers like the Nexus 6 last year, or be limited to a select few like previous years?

According to AusDroid and a few other sources, the Nexus 5X recently cleared the FCC and just like the new Moto X Pure Edition, is packed full of support for nearly any and all carriers.

The Nexus 5X will be sold exclusively through the Google Store, not from carriers, but will support them all, and that includes Verizon. Meaning AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, smaller regional carriers, and others around the globe. There are two versions, one for the US, and one global model.

The Nexus 5X will also support Project Fi, Google's latest carrier initiative that uses T-Mobile, Sprint, 4G LTE and WiFi hotspots around town to offer the best network performance and speeds at any given moment.

Google is working with carriers similar to how they launched the Nexus 6, meaning there will be a certain build of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the T-Mobile version with support for WiFi calling and VoLTE, Verizon will also offer HD Calling and a few other things, not to mention a version specific for Project Fi.

All phones will work with all carriers, but they'll need the right software which will be available for download from Google, or at checkout simply choose the model buyers need.
