Nexus 5X vs iPhone 6s: Price

Nexus 5X vs iPhone 6s: Price

Specs, features, screen resolution and all that aside, the most important thing is the price. The iPhone 6s is and always will be expensive. Google however, does the opposite.

Google's Nexus 5X is so cheap, you could almost get two for the price of one 64GB iPhone 6s. Albeit with less storage. Here's the pricing for those trying to decide. It's a shocker.

  • iPhone 6s 16GB - $649 (or 64GB for $749) from Apple
  • Nexus 5X 16GB - $379 from the Google Store  (32GB is $429)

With the Nexus 5X buyers get a great experience and double the storage (32GB) for only $429, or if you don't need much space grab the 16GB model for $379. That's a lot less than $649 for the 16GB iPhone, then you'll need to spend $749 to get more than 16GB, which everyone needs if they're downloading games, taking photos, and enjoying a "smartphone" to the fullest. However, Google only offers 16 and 32GB with the Nexus 5X. If you need more storage, the Nexus 6P has 32/64/128GB options. In fact, the 128GB Nexus 6P is the same $649 price as the 16GB iPhone 6s.

This is a huge difference, and something many need to consider. When you think about how both phones have great cameras, fingerprint scanners, pretty design, and tons of features, the price is important. Of course many Apple faithful will pay it willingly, not to mention carriers and Apple have payment plans, 2-year contracts, and more.

Most can get the new iPhone 6s for under $30 a month with monthly payments or around $32 from Apple, but that isn't the case with the Nexus 5X. You'll need to buy it outright from Google, or make payments through Project Fi. Carriers aren't offering Google's new phone, the company is selling it themselves.

Even though the Nexus 5X isn't sold by them, it works with all major US carriers. It's a tough choice, but for those that want one of the best smartphones on the planet for under $400, the Nexus 5X is it. Well, or the Moto X Pure Edition with a bigger 5.7-inch screen.

If you're willing to spend more, or are deeply integrated into the Apple world, the iPhone 6s will be a great phone for years to come, and get plenty of software updates.

Honestly though, this all comes down to Android vs iOS for most, but a regular user that have no preference, will want to take a hard look at both before deciding. Google offers a lot for a low cost, but Apple is Apple, and we all know how that works.

Choose what you want, and enjoy.
