Nexus 7 2 Launch May Be Weeks Away
Google remains silent on the details regarding the new Nexus 7 2 launch but yet it again, it has been pegged to be taking place sometime within the next few weeks with late July and early August both being pinpointed as potential launch windows for the highly anticipated slate.
For months, the Nexus 7 2 has been rumored to be a successor to the Nexus 7, Google’s successful 7-inch slate from 2012. The device only exists in rumors at this point though thanks to Google’s reluctance to announce it. However, thanks to leaks, it’s looking like the device will be the Asus K009, a device that sports a 7-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 5MP rear camera, LTE data speeds and Android 4.3.

Unfortunately, it’s still unclear when Asus, or Google, might announce this new tablet. Rumors point to a launch taking place sometime during the month of July, the month that has been pegged as the Android 4.3 release window, and recently the timing seemed to have been nailed to late July, no specific date mentioned.
A new report from the hit-or-miss Digitimes claims that the Nexus 7 2 will indeed be launching in either late July or early August with the aforementioned features on board. The site also claims that the device will start at a price between $199 and $250 for a Wi-Fi version of the device. Recently, we heard that the device could jump $50 from its usual $199 price point but that remains unconfirmed.
One of the Nexus 7’s advantages over devices like the iPad mini was its price tag which was $130 less than the 16GB iPad mini which starts at a lofty $330 for a Wi-Fi model.
With Google’s Android 4.3 said to be coming out this July and with rumors pegging a launch sometime within the next few weeks, it’s looking more and more like the device will finally make an appearance and replace the Nexus 7 on shelves. Oddly enough, the device itself has only leaked one time in a grainy shot discovered within the Asus K009’s FCC filing.
If the device is indeed going to be arriving in the next few weeks, consumers should expect it to leak out ahead of schedule as most Google Nexus products do.

i agree with you…since before the google I/O conference; I have been seeing articles like “Nexus 7 2 is coming in May at Google I/O conference…”, “Google did not announce the Nexus 7 2, but it could still be coming out later…”, “Nexus 7 2 could be coming out in June…”, “Still no Nexus 7 2, but it could be coming out next month in July…”.
Now we are in July, “Still no Nexus 7 2, but it could be coming out before the end of July…”, “Still no Nexus 7 2, but it could be coming out next week….”, “Still no Nexus 7 2, but it could be coming out soon, may be in August….”, “Still no Nexus 7 2, but it should be out any time….”, Still no Nexus 7 2; expect September release…”, blah blah blah blah blah….WTF!!!!

I’m actually getting pretty annoyed at waiting at this point. Google needs to at least announce the damn thing and let us start plopping down pre-orders!

They haven’t announced one — this is my assumption btw — because either they don’t have the quantity level high enough for launch, or they want to ship it with 4.3 and there are issues.
Why announce a date you cannot guarantee when, should you miss it, you get cornholed in the *sphere?
If this pad is truly an iPad mini killer, they just want it to be perfect.
