New Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update Details Emerge for Nexus Users

New Android 4.4.3 KitKat update details have emerged for Google’s Nexus devices and it looks like Android 4.4.3 KitKat will be the update that fixes many of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems that Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Nexus 5 owners have been complaining about since the end of last year.

Last week, a number of Android 4.4.3 KitKat update details emerged thanks to credible leaksters and credible leaks. However, thanks to Android Police, Nexus users now have a pretty good idea about what to expect from Google’s all but confirmed Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, an update that has been a long time coming.

According to their information, the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will be a massive bug fix update for Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems. Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Nexus 5, and Nexus 4 users have been complaining about an assortment of problems since KitKat’s release. Last week, we heard that Android 4.4.3 KitKat would come with camera fixes and this new report confirms that information and more.

These new details suggest that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will come with several dozen fixes for problems within Android 4.4.2, something that will likely make this a sizable update for Nexus users.

The update is supposedly going to come with a fix for unstable data connections, improved camera focus (this is probably what LlabTooFeR was referring to), a fix for random reboot issues, a fix for missed call LED problems, VPN fixes, and more. While the change log isn’t final until Google makes it final, it’s clear that the update is going to be a massive bug fixer for Nexus users. The unofficial change log can be seen right here.

Unfortunately, it looks like the update is still in testing which means that a release date is still unclear. LlabTooFeR claimed last week that the update would be out within two to three weeks but that timing likely depends on internal testing. If everything goes smoothly, an Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release could be imminent.

Thus far, we’ve only seen the update emerge for the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7. The Nexus 5 update is shown in this new report while both updates showed up in testing last week. Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 owners will more than likely get the update as well given that they have been experiencing problems within Android 4.4.2 KitKat as well.

Google typically releases brand new Android updates during the working week, rather than on the weekend, and it usually rolls out its updates in stages. What this means is that only some Nexus users will receive the update on day one as Google works to ensure a smooth delivery.

The update will represent the third update to Android 4.4 KitKat, following in the footsteps of the Android 4.4.1 and Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates that rolled out last year. It will also likely serve as a bridge between Android 4.4 and whatever is next in Google’s arsenal. Rumors point to an Android 4.5 update making an appearance in July alongside a new Nexus 8.
