Nearly a month after Google released the impressive new Nexus 9 tablet, we’re finally starting to see some accessories become available. Announced back in October and released on November 3rd, the Nexus 9 is Google’s latest tablet and runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

When announced, Google’s Play Store added two accessories for the new tablet. Those being an origami kickstand cover case, and a keyboard folio case with a built-in kickstand, all day battery life, and more. Today, one of those is finally available for those interested.

Google’s track record with releasing accessories for Nexus smartphones and tablets isn’t very good, and they’re off to a rough start with the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 too. Both have been available for some time from the Play Store, while the accessories weren’t. One Nexus 6 case went up for sale last week, and now the keyboard case is available for Nexus 9 owners.

The Nexus 9 Keyboard Folio case is a durable case, kickstand, keyboard, and device with a multipurpose design. It attaches magnetically to the Nexus 9 for a smooth and worry-free typing experience, and should be great for business users.

However, the biggest concern, is the price. Google is asking $129 for the Nexus 9 keyboard case, which is a lot, but it’s the only official accessory currently available. The impressive kickstand cases are still unavailable, despite four color options being shown on Google Play. They’ll be $39 once released, whenever that actually happens.

That said, there is one option available today as shown above. The Keyboard folio case promises to attach magnetically for a secure connection, it uses Bluetooth for the keyboard aspect, and has two angles for the perfect position while typing, viewing movies, or watching YouTube.

Closed up this is a quality Nexus 9 case, and opened it becomes a multi-tasking business tool. Google also promise that the Keyboard Folio case for the Nexus 9 will last up to 5 months on a single charge. That’s extremely impressive. 5 months on a single charge is with two hours of usage each day, according to Google, and a quick plug-in with a micro-USB cord will have it full power in no time.

Again, this is the only accessory that’s officially available from Google for the Nexus 9, but there are a few viable alternatives and keyboard options from places like Amazon. It comes in extremely expensive, costing users $129, but may be worth it for some. The Google Play Store states the Nexus 9 keyboard cover and case will ship in 1-2 business days, and don’t forget about the holidays, so most users can expect it Friday, or sometime early next week.

We’ll keep an eye out for more details regarding the other official accessory and cases from Google Play, and stay tuned for a full roundup of the best Nexus 9 cases, covers, accessories and options in the near future. Is $129 too much for a keyboard case? Let us know in the comments below.
