Apple announced the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Tuesday with new designs and bigger screens. You can still use your iPhone charging cable, but you will need all new iPhone cases if you want to protect the phone from drops that many iPhone owners know oh-so well.
The OtterBox iPhone 6 cases ship now, but you will need to wait a little while for the OtterBox iPhone 6 Plus cases to arrive online and at local stores. OtterBox boasts that the iPhone 6 cases are in retail stores now, so if you plan to go to a carrier on the iPhone 6 release date next week you should be able to buy one in store.
OtterBox iPhone 6 cases leave room for the Touch ID sensor on the new iPhones and will not interfere with the upgraded camera and Optical Image Stabilization on the iPhone 6 Plus. Instead OtterBox cases are designed to keep the iPhone 6 from breaking when dropped with protection from bumps and shocks as well.
There are five OtterBox iPhone 6 case and screen protector options, with many color choices and higher-end options like Camo and designer finishes. Not all the options are available today, so keep an eye on that before you order if you want your iPhone 6 in a OtterBox on day one.
The OtterBox iPhone 6 Defender Series is the top of the line model from OtterBox at $59.95 with triple layer of protection using a hard material and soft materials, plus a screen protector that is built-in to the case. This includes a belt holster in case the iPhone 6 in a OtterBox case is too big for your pockets. You can choose a variety of colors and customize the options for a dual-color design. The OtterBox iPhone 6 Symmetry case is $40 to $45 from OtterBox, offering a little less protection in a thinner and lighter package. You can choose from various colors and designs that you don’t typically see on a rugged case. Although this is a one-piece case it uses a hard and a soft material to increase durability.
OtterBox iPhone 6 Commuter Series cases start at $39.90 and include a stick on-screen protector and dual material design. This is a step down from the OtterBox Defender Series cases, but it still provides good protection and covers ports from dust and grime. Choose from a small selection of colors or customize the color options.
For users that won’t be able to rely on Apple Pay for all of their needs there is an Otter Box iPhone 6 Commuter Series Wallet that delivers Commuter level protection and room to carry a few cards and cash in the back of the iPhone 6. This iPhone 6 case is $40 to $45 depending on the options and colors you choose. OtterBox Commuter Wallet review.
OtterBox also sells Alpha Glass and Clearly Protected. Alpha Glass is a $30 glass iPhone 6 screen protector that is available in vibrant or with a privacy finish to prevent others from looking at your iPhone. The Clearly Protected series is a traditional iPhone 6 screen protection lineup that ranges from $20 to $30 with Vibrant, Privacy, 360 and Clean options.
These options are also available as OtterBox iPhone 6 Plus cases, but you can only sign up to be notified when they are ready to buy.
