Quip is a New iPad Twitter App That Focuses on Conversations

Tomorrow iPad users will have a new Twitter app that makes it easier to keep track of conversations that happen on the social network.

Quip is the latest app from Glasshouse Apps, the developer behind The Early Edition, Gift Plan, and Barista. The new app works like most Twitter apps, letting users view their stream and post tweets, but it has a few extra features like an easier way to view conversations and an option to just view photos.

The conversation view of Quip means users no longer have to search through other people’s Twitter profiles to see full conversations. The app has a separate view option for conversations, breaking them out of the stream for easy viewing. Just tapping the tweet that started the conversation will reveal the rest of the conversation. If a tweet isn’t marked as a conversation, tapping and holding on the user’s avatar will link it to responses and conversations.

From the preview video we can also see the app has a separate view option for photos. The option seems to group together photos taken by users, making it easy to view all photos by the individual Twitter user. The option shows the photos in fullscreen with the tweets and replies to the tweets below them.

Quip will be available in the App Store tomorrow, May 31, though we don’t know the price. It does have some limitations such as the lack of Lists support and no auto-updating, but it still looks like a great Twitter app. It doesn’t seem quite as powerful as Tweetbot from the description, but it looks like a great app for users who don’t need all the features of Tweetbot. Or, for users who still want Tweetbot, it seems like a great way to casually view photos and a better way to view full conversations.
