The OnePlus 6 already runs Google's latest Android 8.1 Oreo (not Android 8.0 like everyone else) and they're a part of the Android P beta program. You can buy it and flash Google's unreleased Android 9.0 P software the same day. 

OnePlus is one of the best when it comes to software updates. Most of its devices received Android 8.0 Oreo a few months after Google released it in 2017, before the end of the year. As an example, the Galaxy S8 didn't get it until March and April, and most LG smartphones didn't get it until May. Phones like the LG G6 from last year don't even have Oreo. That's over 9 months late, and it's still not here. 

Basically, if you want fast software updates and the latest security patches you'll want a phone from Google or OnePlus.
