Samsung Aiming to Out-Display iPad with High-Res Tablet in February?

Published

on

It appears that Samsung might be preparing to announce a new tablet at the Mobile World Congress in February, one that offers an 11.6-inch display that features an astounding 2560 x 1600 resolution. In addition to the Retina-esque display, it appears that the tablet will come with Google’s latest and greatest software, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, on board.

While the tablet’s display is said to be 11.6-inches, it’s described as being “barely larger” than the Samsung Galaxy 10.1, the other big-screened tablet that the company currently has on the market.

This is apparently due to the device’s thinner bezel.

The unnamed tablet is also said to feature a 2GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU.

Mobile World Congress 2012 is already shaping up to be an impressive event with Asus rumored to be launching the hybrid PadFone and HTC possibly announcing the quad-core HTC Edge and a quad-core tablet solution.

Apple is also rumored to be releasing an iPad 3 with a similar high resolution display in early 2012.

So, any chance these types of gems will start to show up with Windows 8? Never thought I’d see the day where Windows gets “out-spec’d” so badly.
