Samsung Captivate Gingerbread Update Leaks Out, Get It Now

Published

on

It was only a matter of time before we saw an official version of Gingerbread leak out for one of the Samsung Galaxy S devices and today, that exact thing has happened to the Samsung Captivate, AT&T’s Galaxy S smartphone.

Samsung Captivate

Now, before you go and get too excited, these (yes, there are two versions) aren’t “official” because they haven’t been released officially by Samsung or AT&T. They are leaks and there is a chance that the latest one, the one from June 8th, might not be the official version.

However, if you don’t care and you’re rooted and ready to go, there are currently two versions ready to get installed:

  • I897UCKE3 – Build date of May 26, 2011
  • I897UCKF1 – Build date of June 8, 2011

Each has bloatware and the June update fixes some stuff that was wrong with the May 26th version. If you’re interested, you can find all of the details over at SamFirmware or on XDA. As always, please be careful installing the software as you can brick your phone if the process is done incorrectly.

This is good news even if you’re not prepared to install either of these because it means official Gingerbread is coming and it may be on its way to the Captivate sooner than you think.
