Samsung Droid Charge: Details, Review & Video Roundup
The Samsung Droid Charge, is an upcoming 4G LTE enabled phone for Verizon that was originally introduced back in January at CES. It’s going to feature a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with 480 x 800 resolution, a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, an 8 megapixel rear camera, LED flash, auto-focus, and a 1.3 megapixel front camera.
When it was introduced back at CES, neither Samsung nor Verizon gave it an official name calling it the ‘Samsung 4G LTE smartphone’. Since then, it has been called the Samsung Stealth, the Samsung Droid Stealth and now, the Samsung Droid Charge.
The Samsung Droid Charge will also apparently be the first Droid device on Verizon not made by HTC or Motorola.
Samsung Droid Charge Release Date
While an official release date is currently unknown, a recent Verizon road map leak suggests that the Droid Charge will be hitting shelves across the United States on April 14th. Of course, that could change seeing as though Verizon has yet to make any sort of official announcement.
The carrier may have originally planned that as the release date but problems with the HTC ThunderBolt’s functionality with the 4G LTE network and its subsequent delayed release may have pushed back the Droid Charge’s launch.
Update: The Droid Charge will be out on May 14th after being delayed.
What is the Samsung Droid Charge?
The Samsung Droid Charge is an upcoming 4G LTE phone for Verizon that originally had no name but has since been revealed as a Samsung-made Droid device called the Samsung Droid Charge. It will be powered by Android 2.2 and it will have Mobile Hotspot support for up to 8 devices.

Droid Branding: The Samsung Droid Charge will join the Motorola Droid Bionic as a new addition to the Droid family on Verizon.
4G LTE Network: The Droid Charge will run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network which means that it’s going to be a lot faster than your typical 3G phone.
4G Hotspot: Like the Droid Bionic, the Samsung Droid Charge will come with 4G Hotspot support allowing for up to 8 compatible devices to connect to it . It will, of course, require an extra fee.
Samsung Droid Charge Availability and Pricing
The pricing and availability of the Samsung Droid Charge are as of yet unknown. A leaked Verizon roadmap indicated that it would be out on April 7th. However, it appears that that will in fact not be the launch date for the Droid Charge.
It should, however, be out sometime in April or May.
As for pricing, recent evidence suggests that the Droid Charge could come with a price tag of $299 attached to it. It’s unlikely that that will stick and it should hit shelves for the same price as the HTC ThunderBolt at $249 with a new two year contract.
Update: The Samsung Droid Charge will be out on May 14th for $300 from Verizon.

The article states the Charge will be the first Android on Verizon that’s not an HTC or Motorola. Not true. LG Ally, LG Vortex, Samsung Fascinate, Samsung Continuum are all Droid phones.

Not true. None of those have Droid branding. And when I mean Droid, I am talking about the Red Eye bootloader, the Droid noises, etc.

You are mistaking Android operating system phones with the specific Droid branding. The two terms are not interchangeable. The phones you mentioned may be Androids, but they are not Droids.

It’s kind of lame that the Droid Charge has been delayed on the day of its supposed launch. But I guess there’s no point in launching a 4G phone without 4G service. I’ll be checking https://buydroidphones.com/tag/buy-droid-charge/ to find out when it does actual launch and so that I can find good deals on the phone.

The Droid Charge looks like a great phone, especially with the AMOLED super display and HD camera and output. I relieved to hear that it has a great battery life since I have an employee Sling receiver from DISH Network. With my Sling receiver, I can stream live and recorded HD TV to my Android handset. So as long as I have 3G coverage or WiFi, I can watch TV everywhere.

The Charge is the biggest piece of crap ever passed off as a cell phone. It is to smart phones what Kim Kardashion is to nuclear physicists. Avoid this phone at all costs. It constantly freezes, making a simple call is so frustrating you want to smash the freaking thing, and the battery life makes the fruitfly’s life expectancy look like that of a tortious. THIS PHONE SUCKS!!
