Published

Samsung is taking over Times Square for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 experience which should deliver the first Galaxy Note 3 hands on experience to consumers in the U.S. later today.

Samsung erected a gigantic stage in Duffy Square to show the Galaxy Note 3 live stream and a veiled tent sits to the side where we expect Samsung will let users go hands on with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch shortly after the event is over.

Samsung is teasing the Galaxy Note 3 Times Square event on Facebook and Twitter while reminding users they can watch the Samsung Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event live on a computer or smartphone. 16,000 users are already tuned in waiting for Samsung to start the Galaxy Note 3 event.

While Samsung has yet to confirm that fans in Times Square can get their own Galaxy Note 3 hands on before the end of the day, Samsung used the same wording for the Galaxy S4 launch in March when they let users go hands on with the device after the presentation.

With roughly an hour before the Galaxy Note 3 event is set to start a small crowd is starting to form in the grandstands and Samsung event staff is busy working on a remote link vehicle which is likely the source of the live stream for the crowd.

There appears to be a barricade near the stage which could double as a queue for viewers to line up for the Galaxy Note 3 hands on after the show wraps up.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 event takes place in Berlin where we expect to see Samsung unveil the Galaxy Note 3 with a new larger 5.7-inch 1080P display with a new design that borrows thin bezels from the Galaxy S4 to keep the overall size of the device not much bigger than the Galaxy Note 2.

We expect the Galaxy Note 3 will run Android 4.3 with a Touchwiz overlay and come preloaded with many Samsung apps like S Health, S Translator and the updated Samsung camera app with multiple modes.

We also expect to see new S Pen features, though some rumors claim the S Pen will not add new functionality, we think this could be talking about the hardware and design, rather than features.
