The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release is still months away at best, but that doesn’t mean that the rumor mill has started churning at an increasing rate. And today, those Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumors have been fueled by a strange appearance by a device that will almost certainly join the Samsung Galaxy S5 on shelves later on this year.
As we move deeper into 2014, we’re starting to hear more and more about Samsung’s plans for the rest of the year. And it would appear that a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is among those plans as Samsung executives have all but confirmed its arrival for the second half of the year, complete with a new design.
This rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to replace the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and do so right around the same time that Samsung has always released its new Galaxy Note model. Leaked information points to an arrival in the second half of the year, but more specifically, right around IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany which kicks off on September 5th. Samsung has always used IFA as a Galaxy Note launching pad and it looks like we could see a repeat in 2014.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 leaks will persist well into 2014 as we march toward September though none may be as odd as one that occurred just a short time ago.
The company recently updated its SideSync service to work with all PCs using Microsoft Windows. And it would appear that SideSync users noticed something peculiar in the compatibility list. Planet Galaxy noticed that the SideSync compatibility list shows the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 name in plain site. It’s right there with the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 10.1 and more.
It’s not clear what’s going on here. It could certainly be a simple error or it could be a subtle tease from Samsung. The site notes that the company accidentally outed the Galaxy Tab 4 back in March. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 was announced today and will be arriving in just a few short days. Either way, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 name is listed for the first time, here amongst Samsung’s real devices.
Samsung hasn’t tried to hide the fact that it will be releasing a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 later on this year. Company executives have confirmed the device for arrival multiple times already, alluding to a launch later on this year, perhaps at an Unpacked Episode 2 launch event. The Galaxy S5 launched during an Episode 1 launch event at Mobile World Congress in February.
While Samsung executives have been unafraid of talking about its launch date, the rest of the Galaxy Note 4 remains shrouded in secrecy. Thanks to rumors, we are starting to get a read on what might be coming with Samsung’s Next Big Thing.
The Galaxy Note 4′s specs are thought to include improved screen resolution, a faster processor, LTE-Advanced for faster data speeds, and perhaps, some changes to the touch portion of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 screen. The improvements could bring improved Air View, Air Gesture and S Pen support to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy smartphones.
Several times, we’ve heard that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 could come with a three-sided display that would offer users improved viewing angles. Those rumors have been supported by several design patents that appear to show possible upcoming designs for Samsung smartphones. Both depict bent displays that wrap around the outer edges of the device.
Samsung put a curved display on its Galaxy Round last year but the technology, known as Samsung Youm, has yet to make it on a mass produced device like the Galaxy S or Galaxy Note.
The company alluded to a brand new design for the Galaxy Note 4 which means that at the very least, the faux plastic back design that arrived with the Galaxy Note 3 will be changed in some way.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is likely on a collision course with the iPhone 6. Apple’s new iPhone is expected to feature a much larger display in the vicinity of 4.7-inches, much larger than the current 4-inch iPhone display found on the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5.
Rumors suggest that Apple is also working on a larger version of the iPhone 6, possibly 5.5-inches in size. That device would likely be aimed squarely at the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, a device that has dominated the large screen sector for a number of years now. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if Apple will get both variants out this year.
Rumors suggest that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may have been delayed until 2015 due to issues though that obviously remains unconfirmed.
Apple is expected to announce the all new iPhone 6 sometime this fall, perhaps right around the same time that Samsung takes the curtain down from around its Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Last year’s iPhone 5s launch took place just days after Samsung debuted the Galaxy Note 3 on stage in Berlin.
