It appears that Samsung might be gearing up to launch a new Galaxy Note next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, only, it won’t be the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but instead might be the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
There have been whispers here and there about a Galaxy Note model larger than the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 and smaller than the Galaxy Note 10.1, though until today, that device remained firmly in the shadows. A new report however casts light on a new Galaxy Note device, that may be announced next month, and could take a spot between the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 10.1.
The reliable SamMobile is reporting that Samsung is gearing up to launch an 8-inch version of its Galaxy Note series, a device that may wind up being called the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 if and when it arrives. Samsung is evidently planning to launch the device as soon as Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, scheduled to kick off at the end of February, the same event that the company is rumored to be announcing the Galaxy S4.
This Galaxy Note 8.0 is said to sport an 8-inch Super LCD display with 1280×800 resolution, a super slim design checking in at 7.95mm – thinner than the Galaxy Note 2 even, a 330g weight, a massive 4600 mAh battery, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2 GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage space and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest from Google.
Our favorite Android 4.2 Jelly Bean features can be seen in the video below.
It also should have S-Pen functionality, like the other Galaxy Note models, which means that it will be bundled with a stylus for use with Samsung’s stylus-enhanced applications that are included stock. It also looks like it will have Wi-Fi and 3G support though no carriers were mentioned.
No release date is specified though we’ve seen Samsung do a fantastic job of getting its products out shortly after launch so it could be only a matter of weeks after MWC that the device will hit shelves. Of course, there is no guarantee that this Galaxy Note 8.0 will show up at MWC but Samsung has hinted at a larger Galaxy Note and filling in a gap in its screen sizes.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 could be that product.
