The Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update has leaked for the very first time today for owners of the international version of the device, a sign that an update is still in the works and on the way.
Today’s leak comes courtesy of XDA-Developers forum member izap who posted the update which is version Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S2, Samsung’s aging smartphone.
The build is for the I-9100 version of the Galaxy S2 and it appears that it is relatively bug free which could mean that the update is the final version of Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S2. Remember, Samsung seemed to promise the update in November and it could be that we’re closer than ever to an official roll out for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Samsung’s leaked update brings not only Android 4.1 features but also the new TouchWiz Nature UX as well, something that Galaxy S2 owners have been waiting for for quite some time.
Unfortunately, because this update is still unofficial, we suggest that those who are not skilled in flashing ROMs to wait for the official version to roll out. It could be that we’ll see the update roll out sometime in the near future so holding off would be the smart thing to do for novice Galaxy S II users.
Samsung has already confirmed the Galaxy S II Jelly Bean update so we know that it’s coming. What we don’t know though is when. A Samsung announcement seemed to point to November though no date was given and the company has remained mum about the subject since.
If it does roll out in November, the international version will get the update first and that will be followed by roll outs on individual carriers. Carriers like AT&T and Verizon will likely be last to the update as American carriers generally are weeks or months behind the initial roll out.
We’ll be on the look out but this is certainly great news for Galaxy S II owners around the world.
