Last year, at the Samsung Galaxy S3 launch, Samsung promised wireless charging support for the device but ultimately, never delivered. Rumors in regards to the Galaxy S3’s successor, the Galaxy S4, suggest that Samsung won’t be making promises it won’t keep this time around.

The Galaxy S3 didn't feature wireless charging but the Galaxy S4 might.

Previous rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will indeed feature wireless charging though it appears that it won’t come from built-in wireless technology. The LG Nexus 4 and the HTC Droid DNA both feature built-in wireless technology which means that they work with wireless chargers without the need for any type of kit.

Samsung Galaxy S4 rumors have suggested that Samsung will offer wireless charging with the Galaxy S4, but that consumers who wish to use the technology will have to buy a separate kit that. A new report from Digitimes backs those claims up and states that Samsung will bring wireless charging to the Galaxy S4, but owners are likely going to have to buy a kit if they want to charge the device without wires.

The kit will likely contain a separate back plate that will replace the stock back plate that comes with the Galaxy S4. It’s unclear though if a wireless charger will come inside the kit or not which means that owners might have to buy a charger separately.

The Galaxy S4 is said to feature Qi wireless charging capabilities which is the standard that many other devices use to charge without wires.

While this isn’t confirmed, it’s likely given that Samsung promised the technology last year and failed to deliver. We will likely know for sure once March 14th rolls around as that is the date that Samsung is heavily rumored to be announcing the Samsung Galaxy S4, its release date and its features.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumored to be a high-end smartphone with an assortment of current-generation features including a 4.99-inch 1080 display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung is also said to be introducing a number of powerful software features as well, including one called Smart Scroll which may allow users to scroll through content on the display simply by using their eyes.
