For the past several weeks, potential information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung’s presumed successor to the Galaxy S3, has come to the surface, painting an initial picture of the likely 2013 flagship. Up until today though, we hadn’t seen a possible Galaxy S4 photo leak out. Finally though, a purported Galaxy S4 picture has leaked out.
Last year, when the Samsung Galaxy S3 was spinning in the rumor mill, a number of possible devices leaked out in purported images. When it comes to the Galaxy S series, this is part of the game. We saw a handful of devices emerge proclaiming themselves to be the Galaxy S3, only to see an entirely different device emerge in May when Samsung revealed the final design in London.
With the Galaxy S3, Samsung reportedly kept it under lock and key and only a few people were said to know of the actual design. In fact, Samsung reportedly had several designs, fake designs, that were meant to throw people off.
Today, we have our first potential Galaxy S4 photo leak that comes courtesy of the reliable SamMobile who claims that the photo seen below could very well be the next-generation Galaxy S smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The device shown in the photo depicts a smartphone that has no physical button, unlike the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, and seems to have a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3. The bezel of the device is thin and the screen appears to be large, something that we’ve heard will likely be the case with the Galaxy S4.
The photo itself appears to have been taken from a computer screen of sorts and it appears to be taken of a render and not of an actual device.
All that being said, while it’s possible that what we’re looking at is the Samsung Galaxy S4, there is even a greater chance of this device being something else entirely or being fake. We’re extremely skeptical at this point.
We likely won’t know for sure until Samsung decides to announce the Galaxy S4 which is said to be either at Mobile World Congress in February or sometime after that. April has been thrown around as a possible launch date as well though it’s unclear if launch and release are the same.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumored to have a 5-inch AMOLED full HD 1080p display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera, Android Jelly Bean or Android Key Lime Pie, and 2GB of RAM.
