A new report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date could arrive sooner than expected with the release pegged for mid-March, just three weeks after the Unpacked 5 event at Mobile World Congress 2014.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 launch date is expected on February 24th as Samsung has scheduled an Unpacked 5 Episode 1 event for that date. Samsung historically has used Unpacked events to announce big name devices and with Galaxy S5 rumors swirling and signs pointing to that date for an announcement, it’s clear that the Galaxy S5 is likely the device that it has up its sleeve.
At the event, we should hear about all of the Galaxy S5 features including its hardware, software, carriers, price, and its release date. Samsung, like Apple, tends to disclose all of the pertinent information at the event. And while nothing is confirmed until Samsung confirms it, rumors have attempted to reveal all of those details ahead of time.
Today, a new report claims that it has narrowed down the Galaxy S5’s release date and it appears that the device could be released much faster than the dates proposed by Galaxy S5 release date rumors.
Many weeks ago, Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin asserted that the Galaxy S5 release would arrive in and around May 1st like the Galaxy S4. Gotta Be Mobile has heard that the Galaxy S5 release, at least in the United States, could be taking place in April. And, we also saw recent information point to a Galaxy S5 release inside of the second quarter. The second quarter is comprised of April, May and June.
GSMArena claims that the Galaxy S5 release will come much earlier and land just three weeks after Samsung announces the device on stage on February 24th.
It claims that the release will land in mid-March though it does not say exactly when the device will arrive or what regions will get the device at the three week mark.
If true, it would be a much faster release than the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 release dates though it would fall in line with the Galaxy Note 3 release date which arrived just about three weeks after its announcement.
Keep in mind, rumors do point to two Galaxy S5 models and a recent report suggests that the premium Galaxy S5, one with a QHD display, could arrive weeks after the arrival of the model that arrives first. It’s not clear if the first Galaxy S5 model will be a budget model or if it will simply just be the more widespread of the two.
Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors continue to swirl ahead of the device’s anticipated launch and they paint a pretty vivid picture of a device that is set to replace the Galaxy S4.
Rumors suggest that the device will come with a full HD 1080p display that measures 5.2-inches, a speedy processor that could wind up being a Snapdragon 800, Exynos 5 or perhaps something new, a 16MP camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, a new version of Samsung software, and a design that could be made out of plastic, metal or both.
In the U.S., rumors point to a release on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon though it appears that at least some of these carriers will be getting a model with 1080p display resolution. Again, this model is expected to be the one that arrives right off the bat so it could mean that the U.S. will get a Galaxy S5 release date in the next few weeks as well. All should be confirmed in the days ahead.
