Alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 specs continue to emerge ahead of the Galaxy S6 release that’s expected to take place in the first half of the year.

As we push further and further away from CES 2015 and the start of the new year, we’re starting to hear more and more about the supposed successor to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Samsung Galaxy S6 rumors have been heating up in recent days and they’ve started to hint at everything from the Galaxy S6 launch date to the Galaxy S6 specs.

Samsung Galaxy S6 specs are rumored to include a number of upgrades including an improved display, improved processor and improved software. Galaxy S6 software rumors suggest that the company could be delivering some big changes on this year’s flagship including a toned down version of the company’s TouchWiz UI.

A new report from Business Korea suggests that Samsung is planning to make major changes to its TouchWiz user interface on board the Samsung Galaxy S6. According to the intel, Samsung is looking to “reduce the capacity of system memory and greatly improve its function by strengthening core features and eliminating unnecessary ones.” The company is reportedly trying to tone down the software so that it gets to the same level as the Nexus 6, a device made by Motorola and Google.

The device is widely expected to feature Google’s new Android operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop, software that Samsung recently released for the Galaxy S5. That software offers a retooled version of TouchWiz included revamped versions of TouchWiz’s core applications that are now made to look like Google’s new Material Design. The look and feel could be a foreshadow of the changes to come.

Software will be just one of the specs found on the Samsung Galaxy S6. Galaxy S6 rumors have begun to firm up ahead of the device’s highly anticipated launch, a launch that’s now thought to be taking place in just a few short weeks.

Galaxy S6 rumors have centered around an assortment of upgraded specifications including a larger 5.5-inch Quad HD display, a curved “Edge” variant similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, an improved processor that could wind up being the Snapdragon 810 from Qualcomm, a 16MP or 20MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a new design that could offer premium design materials.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 design is expected to include metal though it’s not clear if Samsung will encase the entire phone in metal or if it will use hints of metal like the designs found on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. If true, it looks like Samsung could be working to appease consumers who have complained about the bloat of TouchWiz and the company’s plastic designs.

Galaxy S6 rumors suggest that we could see the device land just a few short weeks from now. The device, which was reportedly shown off to select partners at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, will apparently arrive at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. MWC 2015 is set to kick off on March 2nd though it’s not clear when Samsung might announce the phone. Launch dates are always subject to change though the MWC timing falls right into Samsung’s usual launch window for the Galaxy S.

A Samsung Galaxy S6 release date remains out of reach though the company typically releases its smartphones just a few short weeks after their announcement. We could see a Galaxy S6 release, with a toned down version of TouchWiz, in the usual release window that stretches from April to June. Rumors haven’t been able to pinpoint a date yet.

Galaxy S6 rumors have honed in on select carriers though and AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon are all expected to carry the Galaxy S6 when it arrives later this year.
